Welcome to the J. Percy Page Community!

Principal's Message

As this is my first year as Principal at J. Percy Page, when I stepped into the School for the first time, I took in the moment and felt a sense of honour in having the opportunity  to serve this community.  J Percy Page High School has built its success through working cooperatively with families and the community by providing meaningful educational experiences for each of its students. It is through these relationships that the staff at J Percy Page help our students successfully navigate high school.

J. Percy Page High School is a proud community of learners who embrace challenges and celebrate successes in academics, athletics, fine arts, and service. We provide a safe and inclusive environment that focuses on engaged teaching and learning. J. Percy Page believes that all students can thrive and be successful in an environment that is kind, respectful, and safe. We are guided by our vision of creating a school that exhibits pillars of being CaringCommunicating openly and demonstrating Clarity to support our students and families as they experience High School and all that it entails.  This is the time to make a difference and learn what it takes to get there.

To our new and returning families, we welcome your involvement in your child’s education.  Within this newsletter you will find important dates and times of events throughout the year that will be of interest to you.  Our commitment to you is to establish regular and open communication between the school and your home.  We are committed to using SchoolZone, an Internet based communication tool that is user friendly, to share key information between the school and your home on a regular basis.

I look forward to serving you, our staff, our community partners and most importantly our students as the principal this coming year.

  • Senior Sunrise

A senior sunrise holds profound significance for high school seniors as it marks the beginning of their final year, symbolizing the start of a memorable journey towards graduation and new beginnings. This cherished tradition involves grade 12 students gathering early in the morning to watch the sunrise together, creating a shared experience that fosters a sense of unity and camaraderie among the graduating class. The event serves as a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the imminent transition from the familiar halls of high school to the uncharted territories of adulthood. It allows seniors to reflect on their academic achievements, personal growth, and the lasting friendships cultivated over the years.

Students are served breakfast and hot chocolate, and have the opportunity to participate in a Smudge.  A smudge is a traditional ceremony for purifying or cleansing the soul of negative thoughts of a person or place.  Respect for the self and for others, including the earth, is central to various Indigenous spiritual teachings.

The senior sunrise becomes a cherished memory, encapsulating the anticipation, excitement, and sentimental reflections that accompany the final year of high school.
