Drama & Theatre Arts
Drama
J. Percy Page offers a full complement of Drama classes, which focus on acting, directing, scriptwriting, improvisation, and theatre studies. Students in Drama classes perform regularly, whether it's in the form of a performer-created collective play, or in the school's annual One Act Festival, which is 100% student created and run.
Musical Theatre
Our Musical Theatre program allows students to explore an equal combination of acting, singing and movement in a full-scale production. Auditions for roles are held in October, and the production is performed in late April. While class time occurs outside of the traditional schedule, students are able to earn five Fine Arts credits for their participation in the production. J. Percy Page's productions include The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Into the Woods and Urinetown.
Technical Theatre
Technical Theatre allows students to learn the behind-the-scenes craft of theatre through projects related to major productions at J. Percy Page. Students are able to specialize in many areas, including costumes, props, set design, set construction, makeup, publicity and stage management. Like Musical Theatre, students enrolled in Technical Theatre earn five credits for their project work.
Choral Music
J. Percy Page's Choir rehearses and performs throughout the year, both in the school and in online videos. Students learn proper technique for the usage of their voices as instruments while rehearsing a repertoire of classic and modern vocal music. As well, our Choral Music program has a focus on original composition as a mode of musical expression.
