Average of 75% to 79%

Average of 80% to 89%

Calculations will be made using the following criteria:

Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 12

Overall credits:

Highest overall average in 5 subjects

Overall credits:

Highest overall average in 5 subjects

Overall credits:

Highest overall average in 5 subjects; diploma exam courses will be based on blended marks.

One of:

  • English 10-1, 10-2

At least two of:

  • Mathematics 10C or 10-3
  • Science 10 or 14
  • Social Studies 10-1 or 10-2
  • A language other than one used above a Grade 10 level.

 

Any two courses with a minimum three credit value at Grade 10 level (1000 or 4000 series) including those listed above. CTS courses are included.

One of:

  • English 20-1, 20-2

At least two of:

  • Mathematics 20-1, 20-2, or 20-3
  • Chemistry 20
  • Physics 20
  • Science 20 or 24
  • Biology 20
  • Social Studies 20-1 or 20-2
  • A language other than one used above at the Grade 11 level.

 

Any two courses with a minimum three credit value at Grade 11 level (2000 or 5000 series) including those listed above. CTS courses are included.

One of:

  • English 30-1, 30-2

At least two of:

  • Mathematics 30-1, 30-2, or 31
  • Science 30
  • Chemistry 30
  • Physics 30
  • Biology 30
  • Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2
  • A language other than one used above at a the Grade 12 level.

 

Any two courses with a minimum three credit value at Grade 12 level (6000 or 9000 series) including those listed above. CTS courses are included.

 

Students who have met the criteria for Merit, Honours, or Honours with Distinction will receive a notification recognizing their achievement.

Grade 10 marks calculations are based only on final marks in 10 level courses (see above criteria).

Grade 11 marks calculations are based only on final marks in 20 level courses.  These courses may have been taken in grade 10 or 11 (see above criteria).

CALM may be taken in any school year, including summer school, but will be included in the student’s grade 11 marks’ calculation.

You can only use a subject once even if it is different levels (ie English can only be used once in calculations even if you took two different streams English 20-2 and English 20-1)

Grade 10 and 11 award recipients will be recognized at a fall awards ceremony early in the following school year.

Grade 12 marks calculations are based only on 30 level course marks (final marks and where necessary interim marks will be used in the calculations).  These courses may have been taken in any of grade 10, 11 or 12 (see above criteria).

Grade 12 award winners will be recognized at the Spring Commencement ceremony of their grade 12 year. The Governor General's Academic Medal is awarded at the fall Awards Ceremony. 

In order for a course mark to be used in the awards calculations, the student must have received a passing grade in that course.
